Chisago County is seeking interested citizens for appointment to the following committees:


Board of Adjustment

The Chisago County Board of Commissioners seeks one (1) applicant for appointment to a vacancy on the Chisago County Board of Adjustment. The position is a district specific appointment. The Board of Adjustment needs applicants from District 4. The Board of Adjustment has the following powers with respect to the Chisago County Zoning Ordinance; to hear and decide appeals where it is alleged that there is an error in any order, requirements, decision, or determination made by an administrative official in the enforcement of the Zoning Ordinance, and hear request for variances from the literal provision of this Ordinance in instances where their strict enforcement would cause undue hardship because of circumstances unique to the individual property under consideration.

Board members are appointed for a three year term. The District 4 appointment expires in 2020. The meetings are held on the 4th Thursday of every month in Room 131 of the Chisago County Government Center at 7:00 p.m. Interested citizens must submit an Application for Appointment Form to the Chisago County Clerk of Board, 313 North Main Street Room 175, Center City, MN 55012 or via fax to 651-213-8876. The form is available by contacting County Administration at 651-213-8830 or via LINK TO Application for Appointment Form. Extension Committee

The Chisago County Board of Commissioners seeks one (1) applicant for appointment to a vacancy on the Chisago County Extension Committee. The vacancy is district specific for a District 1 Representative.
 
The Extension Committee has three major areas of responsibility, as defined by state statute:

  1. Program development and evaluation. The committee develops an annual program of work in cooperation with the U of MN Extension Service, Assist in identifying county needs and matching or empowering county or regional staff in meeting those needs through education programming.
  2. Personnel. The committee members often serve on the search and interview committees to recommend suitable, qualified persons for Extension Educator positions to the Extension Dean and Director or Extension. By state statute, Extension Educators are U of MN employees. The committee also provides yearly input to the Extension Director or supervisor regarding Extension Educator performance in development and delivery of the identified programs.
  3. Budget Development. The committee, working with Extension, prepares an annual budget of funds needed for the maintenance, support, and expenses of the County's Extension work and submits it to the County Board for approval.
Board members are appointed for a three-year term. The meetings are held on the 4th Tuesday, every other month 7:00 p.m. at the Extension Office in North Branch located at:  38814 3rd Avenue, North Branch, MN 55056

Lake Improvement District (LID)

The Chisago Lakes Lake Improvement District (LID) is accepting applications for candidates for the election of one Area 1 and one At Large Board of Directors positions. Election candidate applicants must be 18 years of age or older and must own real property or be a buyer under contract for deed of property within the area they represent. The term of the Area 1 position and the At Large position both start February 4, 2019 and run until February 2023. The geographical area is described as follows:

Area 1 - 1 Director. Bounded to the south by Highway 9, to the west by County Road 20 and includes the area to the northeast border of the Chisago Lakes Lake Improvement District, Little, North Center and Pioneer Lakes at included in this area.

At Large - 1 Director. Must be an owner of real property within the Chisago lakes Lake Improvement District boundaries or be a buyer under contract for deed of property in the District.

The LID Board of Directors attend the monthly LID meetings on the first Monday of each month, unless that date is in conflict with a major holiday, 6:30 p.m. at the Chisago County Government Center. To request an Application for Appointment Form - LID please contact Jerry Spetzman, LID Administrator by email, by calling 651-213-8383 or via LINK TO Application for Appointment Form - LID. Completed Applications for Appointment must be received by Friday, January 4, 2019 via email or mail to Jerry Spetzman, 313 North Main Street, Room 243, Center City, MN 55012. Applications received after the stated deadline will not be accepted. An election for the position(3) will take place at the LID Annual Meeting on February 4, 2019.
