Happy Earth Day!

Every year Earth Day falls on April 22nd.

Spring is here and composters are on sale now, $59 + tax,  through Friday, April 26, 2019. Order on-line at www.recyclingminnesota.org, pick-up at the Household Hazardous Waste Facility in North Branch this Saturday, April 27, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

2019 Local Clean-up Days:

  • Amador Township:  May 9, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
  • Chisago Lake Township:  Recycling Day is the 3rd Tuesday of every month beginning in April through October.
  • Franconia Township:  June 1, 2019
  • Lent Township:  May 22, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
  • North Branch:  April 27, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. - Noon at Public Works Bldg - 39276 Grand Ave.  Accepting for a fee: electronics, appliances, tires, furniture, mattresses, batteries and scrap metal.
  • Rush City:  May 18, 2019 from 8:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. at Public Works Garage - 51569 Forest Blvd.  Partnering with Evergreen Recycling, Waste Management and a steel recycler.
  • Shafer:  August 17, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. - Noon at Public Works Bldg.  Partnering with Evergreen Recycling.
  • Shafer Township:  August 17, 2019 from 8:00 - Noon.

You may have heard the recycling markets are not good right now, help the situation by adhering to the list below when putting your recycling cart out at home:

YES – ALWAYS IN THE BIN:

  • Paper type materials: Cardboard, Junk Mail (no unusual items included), Newspaper (unwaxed & no unusual items), Office Paper, Paper, Paperboard (unwaxed), Shredded Paper: ONLY IN PAPER BAGS STAPLED SHUT - NO unbagged or plastic bagged.  
  • Aluminum: Beverage Containers, Clean Foil, Pie Tins  
  • Tin / Metal Food Cans  
  • Glass Bottles & Jars  
  • Plastic Bottles, Containers & Jugs #1, 2, & 5 only, (SRC only #1 & 2)

NO – NEVER IN THE BIN:  Never put recycles in plastic bags. They must be loose in cart.

  • Batteries  
  • Diapers  
  • Electronics 
  • Foam or Styrofoam: Cups, Plates, Containers  
  • Food (compost instead)  
  • Glass Type Materials: Dishes , Mirrors, Window Glass, Heat Treated Glass or Ceramic Cooking Containers  
  • Light Bulbs  
  • Metals: Aerosol Cans, Blades or Sharp Metal Objects, Propane Tanks of any size, Scrap Metal, Hangers  
  • Needles/Sharps  
  • Paper type materials: Egg Cartons, Paper Cups, Plates, Napkins or Towels  
  • Plastics: #6 & #7, Bags and Films, Toys and other Molded Plastic Items, Large Plastic Items like Toys & Shovels  
  • Tanglers: Wire, Chains, Ropes, Cords, Hoses, etc.  
  • Textiles and Clothing (unless using SRC or Croix Valley – must be packed separately)  
  • Wood Scraps
